Typhoon Rammasun, also known as Glenda in the Philippines, has intensified to Cat. 3 last night when it made landfall near Legazpi City. The storm continued over Laguna and Metro Manila, the nation's capital and the center of a metropolitan area with a population of 12 million people. The typhoon is now beginning to exit the country's main northern island, and will churn across the South China Sea toward parts of China and Vietnam.
