Markus Duss  Instructor for Yoga, 5 Tibetan and  LU JONG (Tibetan Healing Movements)

Markus Duss

Born 1958 in Luzern at the age of two years, I suffered a severe polio infection with the result of having my right leg handicapped. This handicap lead in the past to a life in daily pain. At the age of 38 my doctors urged me to have a major back surgery. However, I decided to look for alternative ways to relief my symptoms, this lead me first to the five tibetans. This exercise helped me a lot as I felt I can achieve more than just a daily life without pain. During my exercises I learned from a friend about Lu Jong (Tibetan Healing Movements). To find a trainer for this my quest lead me further on to India. There I found a Lu Jong teacher (Tulku Lama Lobsang) who introduced me to tibetan healing movements and certified me in LU JONG 1 and 2. This strengthened my body and brought further relief.
As I moved to Boracay I was introduced to yoga in the year 2000 and after doing a few years of practice with Boracay Yoga I made my yoga teacher training with Clayton Horton from Greenpath Yoga in 2009.

You can do the whole routine in 15 minutes and all you need is some space for your body while laying down and your arms being outstretched. The 5 Tibetans represent a great way to keep your body in shape when you have limited time for a physical workout or limited space for a complete yoga routine. You can easily do the exercises in nearly all bed in most hotel rooms. We use the 5 Tibetans as a warm up for our morning yoga or body workout.

Lu Jong by Tulku Lama Lobsang

Lu Jong is a very old Tibetan healing exercise in the Vajrayana tradition. It is a higher technique for opening all of the body’s chakras, which means it opens both the coarse and subtle physical body. The coarse physical body is what ever belongs to the five senses. The subtle body is the 72,000 various channels of the body. If you want to have a very healthy physical body, your coarse and subtle body both need to function very well. Both are very important for anyone that wants to live a long, healthy life. If someone does spiritual practices but does not open the physical—both coarse and subtle—chakras, it will not be possible to reach a higher state of mind. Therefore, if you want to practice spiritual ways, know that your body is the vehicle to reach a higher state of mind, or, in other words, your Buddha nature. This means that you need to use your body to reach this place. Whether or not you are a spiritual person, practicing Lu Jong is a great technique to achieve a healthy body and happy mind. It makes sense for everyone to practice Lu Jong. If you have a body, then it makes complete sense to practice Lu Jong.
